RISH

The Rotary District 2360’s International Scholarship Fund (RISH) is a scholarship fund aimed at providing financial assistance to foreign guest students (non-Nordic and from non-EU countries) who are pursuing higher studies in Gothenburg. RISH was established in the mid-60s through a collection among Rotary clubs in Western Sweden. The foundation began as an attempt to raise money with the purpose of building an international student residence in Gothenburg. The funds were collected, but the construction never happened, leading the district to decide that the money should instead be distributed as scholarships to international students studying at one of the universities in Gothenburg, which lays the foundation for the organization today.

The board meets twice a year to review the applications submitted by students and decides which of these are considered approved for the scholarship award. There are no grade or performance requirements in the application.
